Pacific Blue raises some fares due to fuel costs

New Zealand airline Pacific Blue has announced increases to some international and domestic fares following the continuing rise in jet fuel prices.
Pacific Blue is raising fares on around half its international routes. The airline said the changes amount to an average increase of less than two percent across its international network.
As part of a fare review the airline is also reducing some domestic fares and raising others. The average increase across its domestic network is less than one percent.
Pacific Blue General Manager, Commercial, Adrian Hamilton-Manns, said that the airline had kept the increases as low as possible and confined to as few routes as possible.
Adrian Hamilton-Manns said, “We’re a low-fare airline so we’re doing this reluctantly. However with jet fuel continuing to rise to over USD165 a barrel compared with around USD90 a year ago, such increases are a commercial reality.”
The increases are effective for travel from 1-Jul.
