In Apr-08, Tiger Airways led the Australian industry with 0 Cancellations compared with 242 cancellations for Qantas, 200 for Virgin Blue and 30 for Jetstar.
It is important to stress the point that Qantas had the second highest percentage of cancellations for Apr-08 at 2.3 per cent of all flights, followed by Virgin Blue at 1.9 per cent, QantasLink and Skywest both at 1.3 per cent, Regional Express at 1.1 per cent, and Jetstar at 0.6 per cent. Tiger Airways recorded zero cancellations for the month.
Chris Ward, Tiger Australia’s Managing Director said “why did our competitors cancel so many flights when Tiger Airways managed not to cancel a single flight? Could it be that they cancel purely for commercial reasons such a low bookings or a desperate attempt to keep their other flights on-time. Either way the other airlines are needlessly inconveniencing travelers”.
It is also notable that Tiger Airways Australia also achieved the highest level of on time departures for April 2008 at 81.3 per cent. Yes we were better than all other Australian airlines even the full cost, full service expensive airlines like Qantas.
Chris Ward said “A true low fare airline like Tiger Airways cuts down on complexity. It means that our model is simpler and cheaper. As a result Tiger Airways is less prone to delay or canceled flights. It is simple really if you want the lowest fares and the best on time service and you want to reduce the risk of being stuck at the airport then fly Tiger Airways”
