AirAsia and Bumitra signs MoU
The signing ceremony was held at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MTC) and witnessed by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Malaysia. The MoU was duly signed by Dato’ Aziz Bakar, Chairman of AirAsia Berhad and Tuan Syed Mohd Razif Syed Yasin, President of Bumitra Malaysia.
AirAsia is a wise choice for government officials, as the carrier's low fares will be easy on the government's expenditure. This is in line with recent calls by the government to reduce costs, promote savings and to reflect its dedication in managing public funds efficiently.
Furthermore, with this MoU, AirAsia is able to offer a one fare level exclusively for government officials. In addition to that, AirAsia's vast network provides good conenctivity from domestic to Asean and the rest of Asia and high frequency enables government offcials to travel for meetings at different destinations in a day, shorter trips to cover more ground thus making official duties more efficient.
Tuan Syed Mohd Razif Syed Yasin, President of Bumitra Malaysia said “The signing of this MoU with AirAsia today formalises the partnership between Bumitra and AirAsia. We believe that this partnership will ultimately provide consequential benefits for all hence we would like to thank AirAsia for this opportunity.”
The signing of the MoU shall pave the way for the use of AirAsia's Warrant Booking system as a booking mechanism for government officials using AirAsia as their mode of transport for official duties. It is a requisition form used by the appointed travel agents to issue out flight bookings for government officials. This system allows government officials to book their flights online via government appointed travel agents registered with AirAsia, by producing mandatory details such as Pukal Number, Warrant Serial Number and Object Code. Bookings under the Warrant system are subjected to a specialized set of terms and conditions.
To be entitled for this special fares, government officials must first obtain a ‘Waran Perjalanan Udara Awam’ (WPUA) from their respective Ministries and produce it to the appointed travel agents. Subsequently the appointed travel agents will book the flights and issue travel itinerary to them.
