Air Berlin shares up pre-bourse after report savings programme to begin soon

(XFN Asia) Shares in Air Berlin Plc were 3.73% higher at EUR6.12 per share in pre-bourse trade as dealers pointed to a newswire report that said Air Berlin will soon introduce a new cost-cutting programme.

 

The report stated the programme - which Chief Executive Officer, Joachim Hunold, flagged up in May - will be launched soon. It gave no specific details.

Hunold said at the end of May Air Berlin will launch a cost-cutting programme sometime this year in the face of rising fuel costs, which, it warned, have made its full-year operating profit target "harder to reach".
