To celebrate the new services, Jetstar is offering special one-way web sale fares from AUD179.
Jetstar Group General Manager Commercial, Bruce Buchanan, said the new services marked numerous landmarks for Jetstar, including the establishment of a Perth base, inaugural Jetstar international services from Perth and the first entry for Jetstar into Jakarta.
Jetstar’s expanded international operations will continue the Qantas Group’s two brand strategy.
In addition to the new international flights from Perth, from 02-Sep-08, Jetstar will commence Sydney-Darwin-Ho Chi Minh City A320 services five times weekly.
Jetstar’s new international A320 services from Perth will replace Qantas services as part of the further development of the Group’s two brand strategy, and will result in a 5% increase in capacity.
Mr Buchanan said “Plans are already underway for Jetstar to establish an international crew and pilot base in Perth, which will support these new flight services… these developments are in addition to our existing double daily domestic services between Melbourne and Perth, including individual daily direct flights from both Melbourne and Melbourne Avalon Airports to Perth.”
Jetstar’s Sydney-Darwin-Ho Chi Minh City service will maintain Jetstar’s existing Sydney-Ho Chi Minh City market presence, yet at the same time introduce two new Jetstar routes – Sydney-Darwin as a domestic service, and Darwin-Ho Chi Minh City as a further five times weekly international service from expanded Darwin operations.
From 02-Sep-08, Jetstar will operate multiple direct domestic services each week into Darwin from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide and 19 weekly international return services collectively from Darwin to the southeast Asian ports of Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.
The service boosts Jetstar’s services to Vietnam from three to five times weekly, and fares are now on sale from AUD419 one-way for a JetSaver Light fare from Sydney and AUD249 one-way between Darwin-Ho Chi Minh City.
Jetstar’s every day low fares for Perth-Jakarta and Perth-Denpasar will start from AUD249 one-way for a JetSaver Light fare. (Australian point of sale only)
