Lufthansa's Germanwings head sees higher ticket prices due to rising oil prices
(XFN Asia) Thomas Winkelmann, the Head of Deutsche Lufthansa AG's budget airline, Germanwings, reportedly expects passengers on low cost carriers will soon have to pay higher prices due to rising oil prices.

Winkelmann said in the future there will be fewer special deals and average ticket prices will rise to compensate for higher fuel costs.

He also said that many flights are not profitable despite good capacity number, "The flights are full, but full doesn't necessarily mean profitable."

Winkelmann added that many airlines had already sold tickets long in advance of surging oil prices to travel agencies and had calculated an oil price of USD80 per barrel or less.
