WestJet Airlines announced (22-Jun-06) it entered a partnership with Penauille Servisair to provide ‘WestJet Lounges at Canadian airports.

The lounges are part of moves by WestJet to increase the carriers appeal to business travellers and are currently operating in Ottawa and Winnipeg, with Calgary and Vancouver due to open in Sep-06, followed by other key cities. Lounge access will be available for purchase online through the carrier's website.

WestJets lounge initiative is part of the New World Carrier strategy which aims to to improve business service, including convenient travel, to attract higher yielding passengers at a lower cost. Australias Virgin Blue last month launched its revamped lounges as part of its New World Carrier stragegy, which includes its Velocity frequent flyer programme.
