ATA credits 25% of bookings to Southwest codeshare.
ATA confirmed (30-May-06) approximately 25% of all its bookings result from its codeshare agreement with Southwest Airlines.
The relationship has been beneficial to Southwest, which is able to offer codeshare services to Hawaii with ATA, which operates ETOPS approved B757s from five west coast gateways served by Southwest. Southwest also acquired ATAs six gates at Chicago Midway during the latters Chapter 11 Bankruptcy reorganization and the airport is now the focus for the partnership. Southwest bought the gates for USD30 million and provided ATA with a USD47 million loan.
