Southwest launches 25 new services from Dallas Love Field.
Southwest Airlines announced (17-Oct-06) it will offer one-stop and connecting services from Dallas Love Field (LUV) after the FAA informed the US Congress on 16-Oct-06 that air traffic controllers can safely manage traffic changes under the new Wright Amendment Reform Act.

The reform act repeals the Wright Amendment, a 1979 law enacted to restrict long-haul domestic services from LUV.

The carrier launched services to 25 new destinations from LUV on 19-Oct-06, including Baltimore/Washington, Chicago Midway, Cleveland, Columbus, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, Nashville, Oakland, Omaha, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle/Tacoma, Tampa Bay, and Tucson. Before the changes Southwest operated 121 daily services to 18 destinations. In reaction to the new routes, American Airlines reduced (18-Oct-06) fares on services where it now faces Southwest as a competitor.
